Bridge Inspection Team Leader / Project Engineer — Olympia WA

We’re looking for an experienced Bridge Inspection Team Leader/Project Engineer with the energy and passion to support and grow our efforts in the Pacific Northwest. Salary range for this position is $85,000 to $100,000.

Fickett Structural Solutions, Inc., is a structural engineering, inspection and testing company headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, with offices in Olympia, WA, Milwaukee, WI, and Minneapolis, MN and remote employees in Florida, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Texas that support our four offices. We work nationally for Federal, State, and Local Agencies in addition to architects, engineers, and contractors. We mostly provide structural inspections and related engineering services for bridges, culverts, locks and dams and various highway ancillary structures. Who You Are:
You’re a talented and driven engineer who enjoys field work and is detail oriented so you’re able to produce accurate inspection reports and make appropriate repair recommendations. You’re equally adept at performing load rating calculations and repair designs. You’re also someone who is accustomed to doing what it takes to get a job done, sometimes working long days, working at heights and around traffic, and getting dirty, yet is just as adept at preparing proposals and handling client interactions. What You’ll Do:
You’ll use your skills and experience to plan and perform in-service structural inspections of bridges, culverts and various highway ancillary structures. You’ll perform load rating calculations for simple and complex bridges. You’ll assist bridge owners with their bridge program and maintenance needs, including design of repairs. You’ll develop customer proposals and participate in client presentations. You’ll be in a responsible position to provide input and leadership for other engineers and project managers. You’ll be a positive contributor to the organization in helping us to offer the best services possible in our field to our clients, and you will help us develop and grow as a company.

You will work out of our Olympia Washington office with a primary focus on the Northwest. However, there may be opportunities to support other projects throughout the country.

As a Bridge Inspection Team Leader/Project Engineer, you’ll bring at least 5 years of bridge inspection and load rating/design related experience. Ideally you meet the NBIS qualifications for a Bridge Inspection Team Leader. If you have received a Team Lead Certification from the state of Oregon, all the better. We’d also prefer that you’re already a registered professional engineer.

Ideally, you’ll have experience with AASHTO’s BrM and various DOT bridge inspection data input programs

You’re proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, etc. You have experience with load rating and design software such AASHTOWare, GTStrudl, Mathcad, or similar. If you have experience with DOT specific analysis software, all the better,

We’d appreciate SPRAT rope access certification Level I or higher, or a willingness to attend training to attain SPRAT certification.

You are able to handle out of town work, which requires overnight stays as necessary.
