Fickett Structural Solutions, Inc., is a structural engineering, inspection and testing firm with headquarters in Madison, Wisconsin, and offices in Olympia, WA, Minneapolis, MN, and Milwaukee, WI, with plans for additional offices in the near future. We work nationally and our business is growing. We provide structural inspections and related engineering services for bridges, culverts, locks and dams and various highway ancillary structures. We are currently seeking an experienced Bridge Inspection Team Leader/Project Engineer to be based out of our Olympia, Washington office. Salary range for this position is $85,000 to $100,000 depending upon experience.

WHO YOU ARE:

You’re a talented civil or structural engineer who enjoys spending time in the field performing inspections as well as in the office documenting your findings in detailed reports, making repair recommendations and performing load ratings. You’re also someone who is accustomed to working at heights, yet is just as adept at preparing proposals and prequalification packages as well as handling client interactions.  You’re a person with leadership and mentoring skills who will enjoy working for a growing company that will rely on your experience to help us grow in the Pacific Northwest.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

As a Bridge Inspection Team Leader/Project Engineer, you’ll use your skills to perform in-service structural inspections of bridges, culverts and various highway ancillary structures. You’ll perform load rating calculations for simple and complex bridges. You’ll develop customer proposals and participate in client presentations, and you’ll provide your expertise for engineering oversight of bridge inspections, analysis, and reporting.  You’ll be in a responsible position to help provide guidance and leadership for other engineers and project managers.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

As a Bridge Inspection Team Leader/Project Engineer, you’ll bring to the table 5 or more years of bridge inspection experience, and 5 or more years of load rating experience. Ideally, you’ll have experience with DOT (or similar) bridge inspection programs and if you have received a Team Lead Certificate from the state of Oregon, all the better. In the course of your work with us, you’ll use your critical thinking and excellent communication skills with contractors and clients.  We appreciate SPRAT rope access certification Level I or higher, or a willingness to attend training to attain SPRAT certification. You can handle working at height and around traffic. You are able to handle out of town to work at customer job sites which will sometimes require overnight stays as necessary. If you’ve obtained your PE license, that’s great too!
