You will assist with creating the written inspection reports and report entry into DOT specific databases. You will also assist in performing in-service structural inspections of bridges, culverts and various highway ancillary structures. During the course of inspection and reporting, you will be required to interpret shop drawings and specifications to ensure newly constructed structures are in conformance to applicable plans, specifications, and Agency standards. You will be a positive contributor to the organization in helping us to offer the best services possible to our clients.
You will work out of our Madison, WI office with a primary focus on the Midwest. However, there may be opportunities to support other projects throughout the country.
As a Drafting Technician/ Bridge Inspector, you will bring a 2-year technical/associates degree in drafting/engineering, or in your final semester of obtaining this degree. Ideally, you will be proficient in MicroStation, AutoCAD and Revit. You have the ability to understand plans, specifications, and shop drawings. You are proficient with the standard Microsoft products, including Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.
You are comfortable with working at heights, utilizing lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and rope access. You have the ability to walk around bridge and construction sites, around traffic, and on uneven terrain. You are able to travel for out of town work, which may require consecutive overnight stays. You have the willingness to attend training to attain SPRAT certification for rope access work, and various bridge inspection related courses to bolster your knowledge of our inspections.
You possess critical thinking and excellent communication skills, and enjoy working collaboratively with coworkers, contractors and clients to achieve a common goal. You are someone who is motivated to succeed as well as helping those around you succeed.
